On the recently concluded 2009 Young Asian Women's Leadership Forum

Dear Colleagues,
Greetings from Miriam College, Philippines!
We would like to inform you that the first Network of Asian Women's Universities and Colleges-Young Asian Women's Leadership Forum (NAWUC-YAWLF) held in Miriam College from 19 to 24 October 2009 was a success. Thirteen young women student leaders from seven NAWUC member institutions participated in the following activities:
* YAWLF Seminar conducted by the Miriam College Women and Gender Institute (WAGI) and Development Alternatives for Women of a New Era (DAWN), 19 October 2009;
* Women's National Summit, 20-21 October 2009; and
* Asia Pacific NGO Forum on Beijing + 15, 22-24 October 2009
NAWUC-YAWLF participants had an opportunity to interact with women leaders from other organizations. In addition, they also had the time to go around Manila and learn about Philippine history and culture.
We hope that these young women were able to inculcate and build on what they learned in this program to be effective women leaders. We hope that they will continue the friendships they made and strengthen this new multicultural network.
