Network of Asian Women's Universities and Colleges -
Young Asian Women's Leadership Forum
(NAWUC-YAWLF)

19 to 24 October 2009
Miriam College, Philippines

Change begins with an imagination.
Imaging the world from our visions, our passions.
Re-creating realities through our actions.

The first Young Asian Women Leadership Forum (YAWLF) hopes to bring together student leaders from member institutions of the Network of Asian Women's Universities and Colleges (NAWUC) to Miriam College from 19 to 24 October 2009 for leadership training. The YAWLF is a space created for young Asian women to nurture their leadership aspirations based on their own experiences and self-narratives.

The program includes discussions on women's human rights in the context of the Asian experience, on women's empowerment and the shaping of Asian women as transformative leaders, and on how young women leaders can face challenges to build a better future. Integral to the 2009 inaugural program is the attendance of YAWLF participants in the National Women's Summit and Asia-Pacific NGO Forum on Beijing + 15 where an opportunity for them is opened to engage and interact with leaders from various women's organizations and movements all over Asia.

Accommodation, in-campus meals, training, site visits/tours and airport transfers will be provided by Miriam College.

Generations of women before us
imagined a different world.
They envisioned and fought for
equality and gender justice.
Now is our time to make a difference.
